Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions asked:

What languages do you work in?

I work in English (UK and US), Polish and Danish. British English is my default, but I am perfectly comfortable in American English as well. For Polish and English, I offer the full range of services, with translations both from and to both languages. In addition, I offer one-way translations from Danish. Please see the service listing page for full details.

Do you work with non-fiction text?

Yes, I have a lot of experience in and specialise in technical non-fiction writing. This means any sort of factual, utility content such as software user manuals, product manuals, process documentation, training materials, online business content, etc. I can span a wide range of writing, from API reference documentation and machine operator instructions for an industrial process to a pop-sci piece for a lay audience, all the way to a web page copy for your business.

Please inquire directly if you need editing for academic or research content meant for scientific journals or other scientific publication. Due to the particular nature of scientific publishing, it's hard to give an upfront answer without knowing more about the work in question.

I do not generally work with non-fiction personal content such as memoirs, autobiographies, self-help or business books.

If you're not sure whether your project falls within the range of my competencies, please don't hesitate to contact me and ask! I'll be happy to learn more about your needs and assist you in selecting the appropriate service.

Do you work with fiction writing?

Yes. I am particularly familiar with fantasy and sci-fi, but I'm comfortable working in any genre. I can work both with traditional fiction publishing (i.e. novels and short stories), as well as with less-traditional forms, such as video games, visual novels, tabletop RPGs & board games, ARGs (alternative reality games), etc.

So whether you need help editing a high-fantasy novel or fleshing out an in-game book for a noir murder mystery escape room, I can help you get it done.

Do you have any restrictions on what kind of content you're willing to work with?

I have very few restrictions: I do not work with content I believe consitutes hate speech, or with things where I have a reasonable doubt as to whether it would be legal for me to engage with it. In those cases, I reserve the right to refuse service.

Other than that, I am comfortable working with just about anything. This includes things like romance, erotica / adult fiction, violence, fiction where individual characters engage in hate speech (as long as I don't thing the overall text agrees with them), etc.

If you're in doubt, please don't hesitate to contact me, and describe your project in more detail.

I'm not sure what service I need, do you have examples I could look at?

Yes, please take a look at the resources page.

I'm not sure what service I need, can you help me pick?

Yes, I offer a free, 15-minute consultation phone call, or a detailed email in which I ask about your project and help you find the right service for your needs.

To request a consultation, please go to the contact page and fill out the contact form.

    Do you offer ghostwriting services?

Yes and no. I offer a selection of writing assistance services, aimed at helping authors write the book they want to write. Those services provide assistance in writing to existing authors with existing material, i.e. I will never be more than a co-author.

I do not provide from-scratch, made-to-order, complete book ghostwriting. That is, if you need someone to author a full book given a topic, and do all or the majority of the planning, research, and writing, that is not something I provide.

Can you get my book published? Can you connect me with a publisher?

No. I offer editorial and writing help, but I am not involved in publishing in any way. This means I'm not able to help get a book published, nor am I able to help decide whether a manuscript is a good candidate for publication (or how to make it more likely to get published).

I can certainly help make a book a good read, but there are a huge number of variables involved in publishing decisions that have very little to do with a draft's literary qualities that I am not in a position to advise on.

    How much does it cost?

    Please see the pricing page.

Do you offer discounts or free trials?

Yes, I offer a free, non-binding, 3-page trial for most of my editing services. If you like my work and decide to hire me, the work already done will be included in the quote I provide.

For developmental edits, manuscript evaluations, and writing services I offer a free, non-binding consultation, which includes me reading a 3-page sample of your manuscript beforehand.

To request a trial or consultation, please go to the contact page and fill out the contact form.

If you have a question not answered above, please contact me, and I'll be more than happy to answer it directly.
