In a previous life, I spent many years as a software developer, before deciding to switch things up and pursue a different career path. I have always had a knack for writing, and something of an obsession with crafting the best prose possible when writing for others, which happens in programming much more than most people realise. Software is only really as good as its documentation, so I always had plenty of material to write and polish, and on top of that, I've done occasional professional technical writing going all the way back to my univerity days. This made editing and writing a very natural transition, especially of the technical kind, though I'm by no means limited to technical writing and can work on a fantasy fiction story with equal ease.

In my spare time, I enjoy all kinds of flying, and am an experienced skydiver and a rated private pilot. Aviation is a lot of fun, but it is also an activity that demands maxiumum clarity of communication, and a scrupulous attention to detail, much as editing work does.
